Event Director Intern Track

Program Information

  • Non-Paid Internship
  • Schedule is extremely flexible  
  • Intern is responsible to ensure ALL school requirements are met.
  • Applicants should be actively enrolled in an Athletic Trainer program in a college/university within NC or SC.
  • Intern will work closely with All or Nothing Performance and NCAAU and/or SCAAU to develop and implement strategies to reduce player injury and improve programs to support AAU organizations
  • Intern should be self motivate
  • Most collaboration will be done through Google Meet
  • Intern Track Assignments & Documents will be available in Google Class Room

Future Opportunities

After completing the intern track, you will be able to create your own AAU sanctioned events  and receive compensation. 

Intern Responsibilities

Event managers provide amazing experiences for athletes and fans by bringing together the necessary employees, equipment, and facilities. This role offers many chances to resolve intriguing challenges while making an invaluable contribution to AAU sports. 

Sport event managers deal with a plethora of issues related to planning, organizing, leading and delivering sport events. Their areas of responsibility can be very broad or very specific depending on factors like the size of the sport event.

Sport event management professionals plan competitions that are both spectacular and safe for everyone participating or watching. 

There are a wide range of managerial challenges that can affect the success of a sport event, and each comes with its own demands. The sport event intern may have responsibilities that cross every facet of putting on a great show, ranging from managing relationships with AAU to deliver on their expectations to collaborating with facilities to ensure that amenities like WiFi are ready for an influx of excited sport fans. Some other common tasks may include:

  • Work with state directors to define project timelines
  • Assist in providing hospitality to sponsors and other “clients” of the sport event
  • Assist in communicating with broadcasters and members of the press
  • Assist in recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Assist in identifying an appropriate venue and collaborating with staff on preparations
  • Assist in arranging for lodging and transportation to the event location for participants
  • Assist in implementing security measures for athletes and spectators
  • Assist in assuring appropriate parking is available for attendees
  • Assist in coordinating with leaders in the local community
  • Assist in negotiating agreements with vendors and sponsors
  • Assist in determining how to respond to inclement weather or emergencies
  • Follow ALL AONP Event guidance 

Interns will be required to assist in one event, manage an event and develop and organize an AAU Cares Event.  AAU cares Event can be a FREE camp/clinic, Perfectly Fit Event for athletes with Disabilities, Direct a food drive, plan an event for an NCAAU or SCAAU club, etc....)
